What a busy and festive half-term we have had in the run up to Christmas. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activities. We have been exploring everything about the numbers 1 to 5 in Maths and in January we will be moving onto 6,7! In PE we have been balancing, jumping, and doing sausage rolls and forward rolls in gymnastics. We investigated electricity and how much we depend on it and tried some hair-raising experiments and even used static electricity to stick balloons on walls! In Aistear we have been getting familiar with the topic of hospitals and doctors (quite appropriate over the past few weeks!) and wrapped presents in our elf workshop. We have practised all our lines and songs for the Baarmy Bethlehem Nativity which was a huge success, a day I am sure all Junior Infants will remember. We celebrated more age 5 birthdays! Every Thursday we have a ‘Literacy Loop’ where we practice our letters and sounds as we begin to get ready for reading. We play letter games, practise writing letters and play Teach Monster on i-Pads. We had a great time at the Christmas Fair and visiting Santa. The girls and boys have loved telling us what their elves have been up to at home and what plans they have as they prepare for Christmas. Myself, Mary and Miss. Downs would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope all the Junior Infant boys and girls and of course parents and guardians get a well deserved rest over the festive holidays.
